Great tool for your run. Buy with HR monitor as well as the foot pod. That would be an unbeatable combo.
Garmin connect is awesome too, great value addition. All in all nothing negative to write about, except
some minor things, but nothing that can't be overcome. |

Yes, this device does work as advertised! I have upgraded from a watch/gps unit that was 3 separate devices and liked it. This unit has larger numbers which are easier to read while running.
When you use the unit make sure and lock the bezel while running in long sleeves, as these will change the settings when they get damp from sweat.
It does pick up the satellites quickly.
Included software does not allow to concatenate runs together, but a minor problem. The individual laps with times and calories burned is great! And one click to the google maps feature is nice, too.
Excellent product. |

I had been sold on the 405 for several months, i was stuck on the price. So when I saw this refurb unit, I thought it was at the "right" price point. The unit and accessories arrived in "like new" condition with product documentation. It is cold in Ohio, so I have only been able to take it out for a few runs and use it with my indoor bike trainer. So far the heart rate monitor, gps, and "ant+" wireless synch work as advertised. I recently got the bike component so I could see my speed, cad, and calories burned while I was on the indoor trainer. The 405 unit will not count calories if you use it while biking on a trainer... without the optional bike component.
I have had the older garmin unit that was "huge" on your wrist. This "watch-like" design is much better and works well when running with several layers on... easier to view information. The touch bazel works better than I thought, even with thin running gloves on you can switch screens easily. The unit is feature rich and takes a week or so to understand all the finer points. The only feature I'm not happy with is you can't turn it off, it goes into power save mode. In my opinion it is still too bulky to wear as an everyday watch. There is a power meter screen with percentage... I seem to charge it once a week... but I haven't been using it a lot with GPS turned on since I can't get outside much.
Bottom line, I would recommend this product to anyone.

Very good for GPS oriented sportsmens

I have bought a factory refurbished version of this item with a doubt but it came like new.
Biggest advantage of this sports watch is its visual and usage simplicity. It looks like an ordinary watch but when you need sports function it can respond to your needs. I am using this watch as an Orienteer and it is very nice to record the routes you choose while running. You can export them to Google Earth and you can use the scanned map as a layer in Google Earth. This feature is very important for an Orienteer. Heart rate monitor works fine as well with the GPS feature. You can see and compare your heart rate while you are running or climbing with the elevation. Using Touch bezel is nice but sometimes it can be tricky.
Battery life is approximately 8 hours for training with GPS (it is reasonable while the GPS chipsets draws significant power). But I think two weeks in power saving mode should be longer, because you are not using any features of watch in power saving mode but it still draws power to empty your batteries.
